Dates are April 19 through 23, 2017.
Accommodations are at the stylish Empire Hotel, right across the street from Lincoln Center.
We will see three great performances at the Metropolitan Opera:
- Verdi’s Aida the evening of Thursday, April 20th
- Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, with Renee Fleming in her final run before she retires from the opera stage, the evening of Friday, April 21st
- Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, starring Anna Netrebko, the afternoon of Saturday, April 22nd. If there is an intermission quiz on the 22nd I’ll be one of the panelists.
We have a group dinner before the opera on the 20th, at which our special guest will be internationally renowned bass Stefan Kocan, whom we will also hear as Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin on Saturday afternoon. Here’s a link. http://www.stefankocan.net/.
The trip costs $2,350 per person, double occupancy. Airfare is NOT included, but we have a suggested flight, and for those on that flight we will provide ground transportation from KCME to DIA, from JFK to the hotel, from the hotel to JFK, and from DIA back to KCME.
George Preston will provide an orientation talk for each opera.
